Diwali & Holiday Amazon Listing Checklist (2026)

Table of contents
The three highest-impact things to do before peak are to lock in stock and fulfilment cut-offs now, refresh your gallery images and A+ Content for gift buyers, and set up your deal or coupon before the event window closes. Everything else on this checklist matters, but those three decide whether you can sell at all, whether shoppers click, and whether you look competitive next to the deal badges.
It is written for Indian sellers heading into Diwali (early November 2026) and the Amazon.in festive sales around it, and for US and global sellers heading into Black Friday, Cyber Monday and December. Amazon sets event dates per marketplace, so check the event calendar in Seller Central rather than relying on last year's dates.
The priority order at a glance
Short on time? Work top to bottom; it is ordered by what skipping each item costs you.
| Priority | Area | Why it matters before peak |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Inventory and fulfilment cut-offs | A stockout during peak loses sales and can hurt ranking afterwards |
| 2 | Deals, coupons and Prime-exclusive discounts | Many have submission deadlines well ahead of the event |
| 3 | Gallery images and A+ Content | Gift buyers compare fast; visuals carry the decision |
| 4 | Titles, bullets and backend search terms | Seasonal and gifting searches spike only for a few weeks |
| 5 | Pricing and Buy Box | Competitors reprice aggressively in peak |
| 6 | Reviews and ratings | Shoppers filter by rating more when they are buying for others |
| 7 | Sponsored ads budgets | Campaigns that run out of budget miss the busiest hours |
| 8 | Freeze risky edits | Big changes close to peak can trigger review or suppression |
1. Inventory and fulfilment cut-offs
- Check the holiday inbound deadlines. Amazon publishes FBA holiday inbound cut-off dates in Seller Central each year, and they can vary by marketplace and fulfilment centre. Treat the published date as the last safe moment, not a target, because receiving slows down in peak.
- Forecast from last year, then add a buffer. Use your Business Reports for the same period; with no history, use your current run rate plus expected deal traffic.
- Watch capacity limits. FBA capacity limits can restrict how much you can send.
- Set up a backup. Keep some stock for merchant-fulfilled orders (or Easy Ship / Self Ship in India) so you can switch a listing to FBM if FBA stock runs out. Indian sellers comparing options can read our FBA vs Easy Ship comparison.
- Check handling time and shipping templates. If you fulfil yourself, keep handling time realistic for peak volumes and for delivery before Diwali or Christmas. Late shipments hurt account metrics.
2. Deals, coupons and Prime-exclusive discounts
Shoppers filter for deal badges, and many promotions must be submitted well before the event.
- Check deal eligibility and submission windows in Seller Central; event deals often close weeks before the event.
- Pick the right tool. Lightning Deals and event deals get visibility in deal pages; coupons show a clippable badge in search results; Prime-exclusive discounts show a strike-through price for Prime members. Each has different fees, reference-price rules and eligibility. Our coupons vs deals vs discounts guide breaks down when to use each.
- Check your reference price history. Amazon generally validates deal discounts against recent prices. Raising a price shortly before an event to show a bigger discount can make the deal ineligible and is a bad look with shoppers.
- Do not stack blindly. Check what a coupon plus a deal does to your margin.
- Bundle for gifting. A gift set or multipack can be a strong offer, but create it as a new ASIN well before peak, not by editing an existing listing.
3. Refresh your gallery images and A+ Content
Gift buyers are less sure what they want. Your images need to answer "will this make a good gift" quickly.
Main image: the rules still apply
The holidays do not relax main image requirements. The main image must still be the product on a pure white background, filling most of the frame, with no props, text, badges, borders or festive decorations. No diyas, Christmas trees or "Gift Ready" stickers on the main image. If you want a refresher, see our main image requirements guide. You can run your current images through the free Amazon image checker and fix background or sizing issues with the free Amazon image fixer.
Additional gallery slots: this is where seasonal belongs
Use the secondary slots for gifting context:
- A gift-ready lifestyle shot. The product wrapped, in a gift box, or being handed over. For Diwali, a home setting with diyas and rangoli; for the US, a holiday table or a gift under the tree.
- What is in the box. Packaging, inserts and whether it arrives gift-worthy.
- A "who it is for" image. Show the product with the kind of person it suits: parents, colleagues, teenagers, home cooks.
Swap one or two slots, not the whole gallery, and keep your strongest images in place (see image order strategy).
A+ Content: add gifting and comparison modules
- A gifting module. A lifestyle image with a short line about who the product is for and how it is presented.
- A comparison chart that cross-links your range so shoppers pick the right size or set without leaving your brand.
- Keep claims compliant. No pricing, discount, "sale" or time-limited language inside A+ images or text. A+ Content goes through its own review, so publish changes early. See our A+ Content compliance guide if you have had rejections before.
If you need fresh gift-ready gallery images and A+ modules quickly, an AI A+ Content generator like zonfy can produce a full set from your product link or photos, which you can review and upload in an afternoon instead of booking a shoot this late in the season.

4. Titles, bullets and backend search terms
Seasonal searches such as "diwali gift for parents", "gift hamper" or "secret santa gift" spike for only a few weeks. Get indexed for the ones that genuinely fit your product.
Titles: descriptive, never promotional
- Allowed: words that describe the product truthfully, such as "gift box", "gift set", "pack of 6" or "with gift wrap" if that is genuinely part of the item.
- Not allowed: promotional claims such as "sale", "Diwali offer", "best price", "discount", "limited time" or "free shipping". These break Amazon's title rules and can get the listing suppressed. Our prohibited words list covers the full set.
- Do not rewrite the title from scratch. A small, relevant addition is fine; a full rewrite near peak risks relevance you have already earned.
Bullets: answer the gift buyer's questions
Use one bullet for gifting: who it suits, how it is packaged and whether it arrives ready to give. Occasions can be mentioned naturally ("a thoughtful gift for Diwali, birthdays or housewarmings") as long as there is no price claim.
Backend search terms: the low-risk place for seasonal keywords
- Backend search terms are capped at 249 bytes per field. Characters outside basic English, such as Hindi script, use more than one byte each, so check the byte count, not the character count.
- Add relevant seasonal and gifting terms you cannot fit naturally into the title, such as "diwali gift", "festive gift", "christmas gift", "secret santa", "stocking stuffer" or "corporate gift".
- Do not repeat words already in your title, do not add brand names you do not own, and do not include competitor ASINs.
- After peak, swap seasonal terms back out for evergreen ones.
Our backend search terms guide explains formatting in detail. You can paste your title and backend terms into the free Amazon listing analyzer to check length, byte count and duplicate words before you save.
5. Pricing and the Buy Box
- Check who owns the Buy Box on every top ASIN, especially if you share listings with other sellers. Our Buy Box strategy guide covers the factors beyond price: fulfilment method, stock levels and account health.
- Set price floors and ceilings if you use an automated repricer, so it cannot race you to an unprofitable price or price you out of a deal.
- Recalculate margins with deal fees, coupon costs, higher ad spend and any peak fulfilment fees.
6. Reviews and ratings
- Request reviews through Amazon's own tools (the Request a Review button or approved automation using it). Do not offer incentives, ask only happy customers or ask for positive reviews; these break Amazon's policies.
- Read recent critical reviews and fix what the listing can, such as unclear sizing or packaging.
- Consider Vine for newer products, but reviews take time to arrive. See our reviews strategy guide.
7. Sponsored ads budget basics
- Raise budgets on proven campaigns. Traffic rises during events, so campaigns capped at your normal daily budget can stop running partway through the day. Check the budget and bid recommendations Amazon shows for the event.
- Add seasonal keywords to existing campaigns rather than launching untested campaigns on the biggest day.
- Protect your brand terms with a campaign bidding on your brand name.
- Watch spend daily during the event and cut keywords that spend without converting. If you are newer to ads, our PPC first 30 days playbook gives a safe structure.
8. What NOT to change during peak
Edits can send a live listing through re-review or, in some cases, suppress it while issues are fixed. Even a day suppressed in peak is costly. Avoid these in the final two weeks:
- Changing the category or product type. This can re-trigger approval requirements and change which fields are required.
- Restructuring variations. Merging, splitting or changing variation themes can disrupt reviews and ranking across children. If you must, do it well before peak; see parent-child variation setup.
- Swapping the main image for something very different. A new main image that fails the rules can suppress the listing.
- Rewriting the title completely or changing the brand field.
- Adding claims that need documentation, such as certifications, "organic" or health claims, without having the paperwork ready.
Safe to change during peak: prices within sensible limits, coupons, ad budgets and bids, small copy fixes and secondary gallery images that clearly follow the rules.
Timeline: weeks before peak and what to do
Count back from your own peak date, which is the main festive sale for Indian sellers and Black Friday / Cyber Monday or December for US sellers.
| Weeks before peak | Actions |
|---|---|
| 6+ weeks | Forecast stock, plan FBA shipments, check deal eligibility and submission windows, audit listings |
| 4-5 weeks | Ship inventory ahead of inbound cut-offs, submit deals, create any gift bundles as new ASINs, start review requests |
| 3 weeks | Refresh gallery slots and publish A+ gifting and comparison modules, add seasonal backend terms, small title and bullet updates |
| 2 weeks | Confirm all edits are live and not suppressed, set coupons and Prime-exclusive discounts, set repricer limits, plan ad budgets |
| 1 week | Freeze major edits, check Buy Box and stock daily, add seasonal keywords to proven ad campaigns |
| Event days | Monitor stock, Buy Box, ad spend and suppressed listings at least daily; adjust budgets, not listings |
| After peak | Swap seasonal backend terms back to evergreen, review what sold, restock for the December or New Year tail |
Already inside two weeks of your Diwali sale? Stick to low-risk items: coupons, backend terms, secondary gallery images and ad budgets. US sellers still have time for the full list.
Your final pre-peak checklist
Each item should be a simple yes the week before your event.
- Stock covers the expected event demand plus a buffer, and FBA shipments are received or confirmed to arrive before the published cut-off.
- A backup fulfilment option (FBM, Easy Ship or Self Ship) is ready for your top sellers.
- Deals, coupons or Prime-exclusive discounts are approved and scheduled, and margins are checked with all fees included.
- The main image on every top ASIN is on pure white with no seasonal props or text.
- At least one gift-ready lifestyle image is live in the additional gallery slots.
- A+ Content includes a gifting or comparison module and has been approved.
- Titles contain no promotional words such as sale, offer, discount or best price.
- Bullets answer the gift buyer's questions: who it is for, packaging and what is in the box.
- Backend search terms include relevant seasonal gifting terms and stay under 249 bytes.
- You own the Buy Box on your main ASINs, and repricer floors and ceilings are set.
- Review requests are running through Amazon's own tools, and recent critical reviews have been addressed in the listing.
- Ad budgets are raised on proven campaigns, brand terms are covered, and you have a daily check scheduled.
- No category, variation, brand or major title changes are planned until after the event.
- You have checked the Fix Your Products and listing quality pages for suppressed or at-risk listings.
For a deeper review of each listing, use our full Amazon listing audit checklist. If an audit shows your titles and bullets need a proper rewrite, plan it for straight after peak, when you can do it calmly; an AI listing generator can draft a complete, policy-aware listing from your product link so the rewrite takes hours instead of weeks.

See all free tools →Frequently asked questions
Can I put words like Diwali sale or best price in my Amazon title?
No. Amazon does not allow promotional or price claims such as sale, discount, best price or limited offer in titles. Use a deal, coupon or Prime-exclusive discount for the offer, and keep seasonal words descriptive, for example a gift box or a pack size suited to gifting.
Can my main image show Diwali or Christmas decorations?
No. The main image rules do not change for the holidays: the product on a pure white background, filling most of the frame, with no added props or text. Put festive lifestyle and gift-wrapped shots in the additional gallery slots and A+ Content instead.
How late is too late to edit my listing before peak?
Aim to finish major edits such as title rewrites, category or variation changes and new main images at least two weeks before your peak event, so any review or suppression can be fixed in time. In the final week, limit changes to prices, coupons, ad budgets and small copy fixes.
When is the FBA inbound deadline for the holiday season?
Amazon publishes holiday inbound cut-off dates each year in Seller Central and they can differ by marketplace and fulfilment centre. Check the current announcement for your marketplace and plan to ship well before the stated date, because receiving slows down in peak.
Should I raise my Sponsored Products budget during the festive sale?
Usually yes for proven campaigns, because traffic and competition both rise and campaigns that run out of budget early in the day miss sales. Raise budgets on campaigns with healthy conversion and keep bids disciplined, rather than switching on brand-new untested campaigns on the biggest day.
