What Amazon Brand Registry actually requires

Amazon Brand Registry is free, but it is gated by a trademark. Per Amazon's published requirements, you need a registered or (in some cases) pending trademark from the government office of a country that has an Amazon store, as a word mark or a logo that contains words, letters or numbers. A pure symbol with no text does not qualify.

Two other requirements trip up many sellers. Your brand name must be permanently on the product or its packaging — stickers, removable labels and hang tags do not count — and the application must come from the trademark owner or someone the owner has authorized. If you have no trademark yet, Amazon's IP Accelerator program can get you access while the application is still pending. Our Brand Registry and trademark guides, linked in your results, cover each step in depth.

This checker runs entirely in your browser and nothing you enter is sent or stored. It reflects Amazon's public rules as summarized in our guides, but Amazon makes the final decision on every application and its rules change, so confirm the details in Seller Central or at brandservices.amazon.com before you apply.

Frequently asked

Is Amazon Brand Registry free?

Yes. Amazon describes Brand Registry as a free program. The cost is the trademark you need to qualify. Per our guide, the IP India e-filing fee is ₹4,500 per class for individuals, startups and MSMEs or ₹9,000 for others, and the USPTO base fee is $350 per class, plus any attorney fees. Confirm current fees on the official sites.

Can I join Amazon Brand Registry with a pending trademark?

In some cases. Amazon accepts pending applications from some trademark offices, and applications filed through its IP Accelerator program. The list of offices accepted for pending enrollment is shown inside the Brand Registry portal. Keep your application alive, because a refused or abandoned application can cost you Brand Registry.

Do I need a trademark in India to use Brand Registry on Amazon.in?

You need a pending or registered trademark from an office in a country with an Amazon store, and one accepted trademark can enroll the brand. For Amazon.in, most sellers file Form TM-A with IP India, which gives an application number on the day you file online. Check the requirements for Amazon.in in Seller Central before applying.

Can I get Amazon Brand Registry without a trademark?

No. You need at least a pending trademark application. Anyone offering Brand Registry without a trademark is either filing one for you under a different name or misleading you. The fastest legitimate route is to file a trademark and apply once you have the application number, where Amazon accepts it.

Does a logo-only trademark qualify?

Amazon accepts a word mark or a design mark that contains words, letters or numbers. A pure symbol with no text does not qualify. A word mark is usually the more flexible choice, and for a logo mark you must upload the logo exactly as it appears on the trademark record.

Is this checker's verdict final?

No. It is a quick self-check based on Amazon's published requirements, not legal advice. Amazon reviews each application individually and its rules change, so confirm everything in Seller Central or at brandservices.amazon.com. The checker runs in your browser and nothing you enter is stored.
